Advaita or non-duality is a universal teaching that lies at the heart of all the world’s major religious and mystical traditions. Advaita literally means “not-two” and it implies that everything is an aspect of one undivided whole. Although we tend to feel ourselves as separate beings rather than as aspects of one whole, Advaita teaches that there is just One Being looking out through all of our different eyes.

Since it is a model of direct experience it is difficult to understand with the rational mind alone and can appear paradoxical. Although it is already present in every aspect of life, one way of becoming more aware of this underlying unity is by stilling the mind through the practice of techniques such as meditation.
